FAQ's

Do you install?

Yes, our in-house team take care of all aspects of installation.

What payment methods do you accept?

We can take payment via credit / debit card or Bank transfer.

Where do you get your timber?

All of our timber comes from sustainable managed forests. It is all FSC or PEFC certified.

What treatment options are available?

Our wooden gates are all constructed from joinery grade timbers, which is Kiln Dried to 14% water content. The high quality of our timber is why we use spirit based treatments. Contrary to popular belief, pressure treatment is not suitable for kiln dried timber. If you think about it logically, forcing water back into a dried timber negates drying it in the first place. Our treatment options can be reapplied with minimal fuss annually by yourself with an all-in-one spirit treatment which is readily available from your local DIY store.

If I order a gate, how long will it take to arrive?

Our current approximate lead time is on our homepage. As we offer a made-to-measure service, the manufacturing process takes a little longer as most things need to be done by hand. Once your gates are ready we will call you to arrange delivery or installation.

Can Our Gates Be Made To Measure?

Yes all of our gates can be made to any size. We will gladly help you calculate the size gates you require.

Is there a Guarantee?

We don’t offer a written guarantee for a particular period of time for our gates. The reason for this is simple; our craftsmanship is very good, our timber is very good, and the finished product is very good indeed. Yes, faulty manufacturing is sorted as soon as possible and the gates returned / replaced, but other things are almost always down to the use of the wrong treatment (or no treatment).

What about warping? well every single piece of timber is different, and it is often impossible to say if a piece will warp when out in the elements. Because timber is natural and our timber is a living product (top quality), it is impossible to guarantee against natural movement. Our timber is top quality (Kiln Dried to 14% water content), which is much more stable than fencing grade products.

One other note is that many companies that do guarantee their gates have many clauses that for instance involve you having to buy their expensive treatment and provide receipts and evidence that you treated them on time every year in order to make a claim. Please be careful if a written guarantee is important to you. These guarantees also do not cover movement of timber or cracks or shakes, so they do not actually guarantee much at all.

We have very few complaints about our gates, in fact we get loads of positive feedback from our customers.

What types of timber do you use to make your gates?

Our softwood wooden gates are made from a premium Scandinavian redwood. We also manufacture  our gates in kiln dried Sapele hardwood, Iroko hardwood and European Oak.
